Everything else that happened in 2008....

Well, I'm back... I've decided I don't like to scrapbook so I will blog to keep track of all the happenings of our family! 2008 was a big year but 2009 is even bigger! Read below to find out what happened during the rest of 2008...

I left off at Patrick's 30th surprise party. Not long after the party I took a trip with some of my dear friends and mom to Florida for a women's conference. It was an amazing trip and God really moved in our hearts as we listened to Holly Wagner talk about health, healing and being in constant training! We also got to enjoy the beach!

I had too, it was just too funny!

Brandy got us all matching beach bags!

In June I turned 30!!!!! It was a blast. I had several celebrations and I don't seem to have any pictures! We celebrated the weekend before with my family at the ranch and then the day of with friends for dinner and then we had a girl's night at Gabby's house with all my friends... It was a blast. We had girly food and then swimming...

The next week was probably the most exciting week of the year. We were getting ready to leave for LA for Patrick's brother's wedding. The morning we were to leave I woke up extra early... I went into the bathroom and came out three minutes later with a positive pregnancy test!!!!!!!!! Patrick's response: "You did it without me!" Kelli's response: "Didn't you hear me going to the bathroom?" Below are the excerpts from my journal...

October 7, 2008:
"On June 19th we found out... I got up early that morning, knowing I would take the test. I flew out of the bathroom and yelled, "Patrick, it's positive!" He said, "You did it without me!" I thought he heard me get up and assumed he would know, but again, another communication lesson. NEVER ASSUME, ALWAYS COMMUNICATE! We were so excited! We were overwhelmed by God's glory and grace. It was awesome. Then we got on a plane headed for LA. We were traveling with Patrick's family and it was hard keeping it in. We didn't want to announce the news until after the wedding so we had to wait 4 days... We had so much fun with family at the wedding and on Sunday we told everyone. They were all so excited. It was a blast sharing the news with all of our friends. And now, we are half way there. I feel you all the time. I have no idea what to expect, how to be ready, but I'm not worried. I can't wait to see you out here... one week from today we will know what you are."

Below are the pics of the wedding weekend...

Jamie's pregnant too!

So, we are back from the wedding and now moving!!!! We have lived successfully for two whole years in 600 sq. feet! Check out the love shack:
Unit 1
We got all moved in thanks to the help of some good med school friends! Our new place is great. We have so much room and love having people over to grill out!

In August, my brother Tony moved to Colorado Springs. I went to visit him at the beginning of November. We went hiking and hung out with his new friends. I had a blast. He also took my preggo pic!

Another excerpt from my journal...

October 31, 2008: The Proud Papa
"Two weeks ago, we found out you are a boy! I picked Patrick up on the way to the doctor's office. He was on call the night before and VERY out of it. On the way there he said I would have to tell everyone because he was too tired.

We started the sonogram and it seemed like it was taking her forever to get down to what we wanted to see! She was measuring everything. Your heart, bladder, stomach, head, abdomen... It was all interesting but we were getting really anxious. You had your legs together tight and as she measured your femur bone she asked who had long legs. Then she came up from behind and we knew immediately you were a boy. Patrick really woke up at that point and before "boy" was ever said he yelled, "YES!" He called everyone after that!"

In the mean time... Patrick has started rotations. He loves that he does not have class anymore. Some of them are very time consuming but he is having a blast doing procedures and actually getting to see patients...

This brings us to Thanksgiving... We had a great time with the Sommers family for Thanksgiving and took some great family photos.

Patrick's extended family always celebrates Christmas early with a family get together and Chinese gift exchange. The day of the celebration was also Jamie's baby shower. All the women went to the baby shower in the morning and then we all went to the Sommers house in the evening. After we were done eating we were getting ready for the gift exchange. We all drew numbers and everyone put their gifts under the tree. Patrick's aunt Cindy was first and she went to get her gift to open. As she opened it I was surprised to see it was a Baby Bijorn! I thought Patty had accidentally wrapped one of my baby gifts up and put it under the tree! Then Patrick's other aunt, Susan, opened a gift and it was baby boy clothes! Everyone was looking at me and I was in complete shock. Why was everyone opening baby gifts and not Christmas gifts??? Well, it was my surprise shower! It was so wonderful and I was completely overwhelmed by Patrick's family. I almost started crying as I opened the remainder of the gifts. It was a wonderful shower! If anyone reading this has the pictures from this night please send them to me!
